“I learned a long time ago the wisest thing I can do is be on my own side, be an advocate for myself and others like me.”
Maya Angelou

Working with diversity

I offer a safe and non-judgemental space for those seeking therapy from the LGBTQIA+ community to explore any issues or aspects of life you want to explore, whether it relates to your gender/sexual orientation or not. I realise some of the struggles you may be facing and you will be met with empathic understanding in a safe and supportive environment.

Members of the community are more likely to have stressors from societal oppression and struggle with feelings of alienation and isolation. Increased levels of anxiety and depression have been reported from the LGBTQIA+ community and evidence shows there are higher rates of seeking therapy than their non-LGBTQIA+ counterparts.

Due to sexuality or gender, you may be holding trauma and shame related issues from your past or current experiences that are impacting your quality of personal and relational experiences. Whether it is with me, another therapist or a support group, talking about your experiences can help you.
